Sherwood discusses his work as program manager for the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) and the research on ruby, glass and carbon dioxide high power lasers; the development of outside research labs and suppliers such suppliers such as Perkin-Elmber, Hughes and the Naval Research Labortory; and ARPA funding.
